GASB Statement No. 68 Implementation Workshop (AA-GASBS) (1516-560)

Overview of pension accounting, auditing, and financial reporting changes and new auditing guidance. Review of accounting and auditing procedures requirements for the implementation of GASB No. 68, Accounting and Financial Reporting for Pensions – an Ammendment of GASB Statement No. 27, with emphasis in cost- sharing multiple-employer pension plans. Conducting internal control and substantive tests over pension amounts. Reporting and disclosure requirements. This workshop includes the discussion of problems on accounting transactions, financial statements (FS) reporting, disclosure requirements and required supplementary information (RSI), assuming both the implementation and non-implementation of GASB No. 68 during fiscal years 2015 and 2016.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this Workshop participants should be able to:
   1. Assess the current pension environment and the risks it presents to the accountants as well as to

        plan and employer’s auditors.
   2. Outline the scope and applicability of GASB No. 68 to elements of the financial statements.
   3. Describe best practices for effective planning and performance of GASB No. 68 accounting and

        auditing procedures assuming specific circunstances.
   4. Comply with certain specific reporting requirements.
