On March 27, 2020, the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (the “CARES Act”) was signed into law. This $2.2 trillion package created the Coronavirus Relief Fund1, a $150 billion effort to provide state and local governments with resources to address unexpected costs incurred due to COVID-19.
